UNOPS - United Nations Office for Project Services
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is a United Nations body responsible for infrastructure, procurement and project management (General Assembly Resolution 65/176 of 2010). Our mission is to help people improve their living conditions and countries to achieve peace and sustainable development. The three priority areas of UNOPS correspond to:
- i) Sustainable Infrastructure: UNOPS designs, builds, repairs and maintains infrastructure in some of the most challenging environments in the world. Its activities are focused on the development of transport, education and health infrastructure, among other areas.
- ii) Public procurement: UNOPS is a central procurement resource for the United Nations system and governments. It emphasizes an efficient, transparent and sustainable delivery of goods and services.
- iii) Project management: UNOPS manages more than a thousand humanitarian, development and peacebuilding projects per year for different partners, ensuring quality, effectiveness and results that meet the highest standards.
The work of UNOPS
- seeks environmental, social and economic sustainability, which contributes to the progress of equity and the common good of the countries in which it operates, thus promoting the improvement of the living conditions of those most in need. UNOPS has a presence in 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The services, products and technical assistance comply with the public administration principles of transparency, equity, integrity, free competition, impartiality, morality, effectiveness, efficiency and respect for national institutions.
- UNOPS has been providing technical assistance in the implementation of health infrastructure projects with the Government of Nicaragua and various International Development Banks. The assistance will include, among others, the strengthening of capacities and implementation of investment programs and projects, development and/or review of investment studies, designs and definitive studies, and procurement strategies, bidding and contracting processes, management of infrastructure works and supervision of works.
- Given the above context, it is expected that the Administration Assistant should support the Deputy Project Manager and the team in the operations of the infrastructure area and acquisitions of goods in the aspects of document organization, administrative support, travel arrangements, research. and information gathering and collaboration with operations areas (finance, human resources, and procurement). He/she is expected to contribute to achieving and exceeding the organization's performance and service objectives.
- Arranges appointments for the supervisor, receive visits, locations, and phone call screens, and responds to routine requests for information.
- Provides administrative and logistical support to meetings, committees, conferences, etc.
- Responds or writes responses to standard / routine correspondence and other communications.
- Review documents and edit text for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and style, as well as compliance with established standards for formatting.
- Performs general administrative tasks (for example, license and attendance registration, arranging for meetings and other events, budget tracking, etc.).
- Collaborate with the different operational areas of the office (Administration, Finance, Procurement) throughout the development of the assigned projects.

Education
Completion of secondary studies is required
Preferably university or technical studies in careers related to the functions or the object of the project, eg. Administration, civil engineering or architecture. College degrees can replace a few years of experience.
Knowledge and use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and related programs will be valued.
Knowledge and use of GSuite (Google Docs, Google Sheet, GMail ...) will be valued.
Fluent command of the Spanish language.
Work experience
A minimum of 4 years (or less depending on academic degrees) of experience providing administrative support to projects is required.
Desirable experience in infrastructure projects.
Desirable experience exercising support functions in medical equipment projects.
Desirable experience in international development organizations.
Languages
Fluent command of the Spanish language.

Contract Type : ICA - Individual Contractor Agreement
Regular Monthly Contract: This contract is established in the form of a regular monthly Contract, that is, a continuous presentation of services is required during the contract period, making the payments associated with the contract at the end of each calendar month.
Contract Level: LICA-4 The UNOPS office in Nicaragua is looking for local candidates (Nicaraguan nationals) or with permanent residence and work permit when applying Contract Duration: Indefinite - Subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and / or satisfactory performance.
