Responsibilities:

Leadership

  1. Visionary Leadership:
    • Provide a compelling short-term and long-term vision for the fintech company, guiding its strategic direction.
  2. Public Relations:
    • Engage in public relations activities, including public speaking and digital media, to evangelize technology entrepreneurship and represent the startup sector.
  3. Team Motivation:
    • Motivate and lead a high-performance, innovative, and results-driven organization, fostering a culture of excellence.

Strategy & Planning

  1. Roadmap Development:
    • Develop a comprehensive short and long-term company and product roadmap, aligning with organizational goals.
  2. Goal Implementation:
    • Establish and implement short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures to drive organizational success.
  3. Team Building:
    • Build and motivate a world-class team in product development, marketing, and customer service.
  4. HR Oversight:
    • Assume responsibility for all elements of HR, including employee compensation plans and benefits.
  5. Financial Planning:
    • Develop a financial plan for the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth.

Operational Management

  1. Financial Oversight:
    • Oversee the operating plan, budget, cash flow, and company finances to maintain financial health.
  2. Content Development:
    • Create and revise all content while building a world-class content development team.
  3. Strategic Partnerships:
    • Establish strategic partnerships with other companies to achieve ambitious user growth targets.
  4. Executive Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead an effective and cohesive executive management team, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  5. Compliance & Standards:
    • Ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, implementing best practices.
  6. Performance Reporting:
    • Establish, achieve, and report on financials and milestones to investors, maintaining transparency and accountability.

Requirements: Knowledge and Experience

  1. Education:
    • University degree, preferably an MBA in business administration and finance.
  2. Professional Background:
    • Prior experience in sales and/or leadership roles in a startup company, with a preference for a background in financial services.
  3. Leadership Skills:
    • Excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strategic Thinking:
    • Ability to work strategically while also engaging in hands-on problem-solving.
  5. Communication:
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  6. Fundraising Expertise:
    • Extensive experience in fundraising and investor relationships, especially in the NGO/Donor space.
  7. Regional Experience:
    • Experience in East Africa and familiarity with the Financial Literacy domain.
  8. Team Building:
    • Track record of building innovative, creative, and collaborative teams.
  9. Strategic Leadership:
    • Strong desire to lead from a strategic and tactical perspective in all aspects of day-to-day company operations.
