Project Name: Strengthening the capacity of secondary school education through radio educational broadcasting in Zanzibar

Background:

Good Neighbors (GN), an international NGO founded in Korea in 1991, operates in 40 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Good Neighbors Tanzania (GNTZ), the GN international field office in Tanzania, has been operational since 2005, demonstrating competence and expertise in collaboration with local communities, government bodies, and stakeholders to improve quality of life in various areas.

Project Description:

Good Neighbors Tanzania-Zanzibar Area Office is working with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) in Zanzibar to implement a three-year (2021-2024) KOICA-funded project, “Strengthening the capacity of secondary school education through radio educational broadcasting” (SRE) project. The project aims to enhance the quality of secondary school education through Radio Secondary School students.

Purpose of the Position:

GNTZ-ZAO, in collaboration with the MoEVT, is seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual with exemplary ethical conduct to join the SRE project as an Assistant Administration Officer. The role involves supporting the implementation of project activities, especially in the overall administration part.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support overall administration activities for the SRE project.
  • Manage staff’s work attendance.
  • Handle financial duties, including collecting relevant documents, bank deposits, etc.
  • Support internal/external meetings.
  • Manage overall rental car requirements such as fuel issues, driver coordination, maintenance, log book, etc.
  • Support/prepare documents for internal/external audits for monitoring project.
  • Manage vendor contracts.
  • Plan/manage procurement plans and implement project activities.
  • Support advertising activities, including creating promotional items for the project.
  • Write daily reports for ongoing project activities.
  • Attend project meetings when needed.
  • Support documentation of project administration materials on a monthly basis.
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Support HR and financial aspects as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Other administration tasks as assigned by the office.

General:

  • Comply with Good Neighbors and MoEVT policies and practices with respect to the code of conduct, health, safety, and professionalism.

Qualification and Experience:

  • University bachelor’s degree in social science, project planning and management, community development, media production, development studies, or any other relevant field.
  • 2 years or more of work experience in a company.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Must provide a personal laptop computer for work.

Disclaimer:

This is not full-time employment; it is an assistant administration officer role that depends on the administration part of the demand of the SRE implementation plan provided by GNTZ-ZAO. The selected individual will receive a monthly allowance of 250,000/= with no other support (e.g., housing allowance, meal or transportation) and will get two days off per month.
