The University of Regina was founded in 1911 as a private high school. In 1974, it was announced as an independent body as it pulled out from the University of Saskatchewan and became the University of Regina.
The city was previously known as Wascana but was later changed to Regina which means queen in Latin. This was in honor of Queen Victoria. International students from about 90 countries are studying in this university which comprised 19.1% of the total student population.
It has four faculties and 25 academic departments and schools, and 18 research institutes and centers, offering over 120 undergraduate courses and 78 graduate courses. Also, the University of Regina saw its 12th consecutive year of enrolment growth in 2020, rising by 1% to 16,664 full-time and part-time students, a new high.
The University of Regina works with more than 295 Institutes from 48 countries. The University provides placement assistance to its students through a career center that conducts career fairs, does academic advising, and has a U of R job board. It has a co-operative Education Work experience program which enables its students to earn while they study and students can earn up to 10 million. The university ranks second among comprehensive universities in terms of the amount of financial assistance available to students in grants, prizes, and bursaries as a percentage of tuition.
Tuition Fee for International Students at the University of Regina
The undergraduate tuition fees for five standard classes with 15 credit hours range between $8,000 to $9,700, this cost varies on the program. Arts courses offer the most affordable tuition fees, while Business and Administration courses are the most expensive.

Faculty of Graduate Studies: $2,100 to $5,900 for Master’s and $1,500 for Ph.D.
Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy: $1,200 to $5,800 for the Master’s program and $1,200 for the Ph.D. program
Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business: $6,400 for Master’s and $4,000 for postgraduate diploma
However, there are additional fees other than tuition, such as Student Union fees, Recreation and Athletic fees, and the international surcharge.
Admissions Requirements for International Students at The University of Regina
Undergraduate applicants should have completed secondary or high school or have taken partial post-secondary education before applying to the university. Also, the university has the English Language Requirement for international applicants. Some may be exempted from this requirement if they have completed secondary education at a school where English is the main instruction language.
International applicants for all graduate programs must have a graduation average of at least 70% from a four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent, except for English, History, Mathematics, Statistics, and the Master of Public Administration that require a 75% average.

Worth of Scholarship: up to $20,000
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must enroll in and complete at least nine credit hours per term, up to and including the school’s last day. Recipients must maintain an 80% sessional GPA (previous spring/summer, fall, and winter terms) on a minimum of 24 credit hours to renew this scholarship for up to three more years.
Worth of Award: $3,000
Undergraduate students on a Study Permit who apply for admission directly from a high school (or equivalent) into a direct-entry undergraduate program are automatically awarded the University of Regina International Entrance Scholarship for a total amount of $3000. Students must have an early-conditional admission average of at least 85.00 percent and be enrolled in nine credit hours minimum during the semester in which the award is given.

Graduate Scholarship Base Fund
Worth of Award: up to $20,000 annually for up to four years
To be eligible for the graduate scholarships at the University of Regina, candidates must be fully eligible students enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral degree program at the University of Regina. At their previous institution, Ph.D. students must have a minimum of a first-class average or an 80%. Students entering their Master’s degree must have a minimum of 75% and achieve an average of 80 percent during the program.
Worth of Scholarship: $10,000
These scholarships at the University of Regina are available to every female STEM student in all faculties. Faculty members may nominate fully qualified students, as the Faculty of Graduate Studies is not accepting student applications. Students must have a first-class average when starting their Master’s or doctoral program (equivalent to 80%) or higher.
